Holism: A Philosophy of Alignment

Living Holism is rooted in the philosophy of holism. Foundational to many of the world’s most ancient healing systems, holism recognizes that health cannot be gained by focusing on any single aspect of the self in isolation.

What happens within us affects the world around us, and what happens around us affects us in return. Because everything is connected, health requires alignment — not only within the mind, body, and spirit, but in the way we live, care for ourselves, and experience through the world.

Rather than being pitted against one another in an attempt to force health through willpower alone, the mind, body, and spirit must work together in harmony. It's the alignment of all three that's vital to sustainable health.

Through the lens of nutrition coaching, I help clients cultivate healthier diets, lifestyles, and daily practices that support a deeper sense of well-being, with the belief that meaningful change is realized through open-hearted commitment, education, repeated habits, and gentle guidance.

About Tasha

Growing up in my parents’ holistic healthcare clinic — where my mother practiced as a psychotherapist and my father as a doctor of nutrition and mind-body medicine — I was raised to believe the mind, body, and spirit are equally vital to sustainable physical health and well-being.

Immersed in both psychological and natural healthcare worldviews, I was compelled to study the healing properties of herbs and whole foods, as well as the relationship between stress, trauma, and physical health.

For more than a decade, I've researched whole food nutrition and health through the lens of holism, with particular interest in preventive health, emotional regulation, whole food philosophy, plant-based diets, and the many ways diet, environment, and daily habits shape long-term well-being.

Much of this study took place under the mentorship of my father, Dr. Victor Shayne, whose 40 years of clinical research, professorship, and experience as a nutritional consultant to doctors has guided my research and shaped my understanding of nutrition as both a science and a philosophy. I am also certified in Nutrition Coaching through the Institute of Transformational Studies.

Alongside that path, I've spent 16 years as a writer and editor, working with complex ideas in health and other research-heavy fields. This experience has taught me how to ask better questions, think carefully, and make sense of information without losing its depth or my ability to see it as one piece in a giant puzzle — all of which now informs the way I work with clients.

Today, my coaching work is grounded in research, holistic philosophy, and the belief that education can help people make clearer, healthier, and more sustainable choices for their lives.

While I support clients across a range of health goals, my areas of special focus include weight loss, the role of nutrition in mental and emotional health, women's wellness, and helping individuals thrive on plant-based diets.

As a nutrition coach, my work with clients is never framed as a replacement for proper medical or mental health treatment. But it is through my understanding of diet and lifestyle that I offer guidance and empathic support to clients striving to build healthier, more aligned lives.

How I Can Help

My coaching work is designed to help you create a healthier, more aligned relationship with food, lifestyle, and overall well-being. Through holistic nutrition coaching, I offer personalized guidance for those seeking a more thoughtful, sustainable, and intuitive approach to health — whether you're on a personal health journey or already receiving care from a physician or other licensed provider. Because every person is different, my work is individualized and guided by strategy, problem-solving, and practical support tailored to your unique needs.

  • Creating a healthier relationship with food and the body

  • Building routines that feel realistic, supportive, and sustainable

  • Integrating health education into everyday life

Areas of Special Focus

While I support clients of any gender across a wide range of health goals and lifestyles, I specialize in the following areas:

Weight Loss

With so much conflicting advice coming at you from every direction, it's easy to feel confused, discouraged, and overwhelmed by the prospect of losing weight. My approach focuses on diet and lifestyle changes that help guide the mind, body, and spirit back into greater alignment for healthy, sustainable weight loss — without shame, extremes, or quick fixes.

Women's Health

Women often feel ignored, dismissed, or poorly understood when it comes to their health, regardless of life stage. My approach focuses on nutrition and lifestyle changes that support the body through hormonal shifts, stress, and the many physical demands placed on women's health, while honoring the role mind and spirit also play in overall well-being.

Emotional Regulation

Proper nutrition can play a meaningful role in emotional regulation by helping support the body systems that influence mood, sleep, cognitive health, hormones, inflammation, and overall well-being. This is not a replacement for therapy, but a nutritional counterpart to it — one that helps support the body in ways that can contribute to greater stability, resilience, and regulation over time.

Plant-Based Lifestyles

Whether vegan, vegetarian, or somewhere in between, many individuals adopting a plant-based lifestyle lack the nutritional support necessary for promoting long-term health. I am dedicated to helping you build a diet that's intentional, realistic, and supportive of your health and ethical commitments.
